CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Literacy ‘n’ Poverty Project seeks volunteer bloggers that can contribute 2-3 posts per month for our blog, Making Social Change A Reality, which can be found at http://thelpproject.blogpost.com.

S/he will write posts typically between 250 and 500 words on a variety of topics. In addition, volunteers will be asked to post comments on other posts (one or several) at least once a week.

Possible topics include but are not limited to: poverty alleviation, random acts of kindness, adult education, basic literacy skills, being green while living in poverty, tips to financial independence, and social change. You can also choose your own topic! We’d love to hear what’s on your mind and topics you’d like to share your thoughts.

How It Works
In the beginning, bloggers will send their submissions to the Managing Editor for revision and approval. Once comfortable with the style, tone, format, and "culture" of the blog, s/he will be invited to contribute as an author with authority to post their thoughts directly to the blog on a predetermined schedule. We’ll discuss post ideas and make revisions to your submissions ahead of time but it will be your responsibility to post your own material. You’ll be part of the LnP Blog Team, currently consisting of six other members, so you can bounce ideas off us, ask questions, and give your feedback about other volunteers’ ideas as well.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
• Previous writing experience required (includes article writing, academic reports, blogs and other formats of written communication)
• Be self-motivated and comfortable working independently
• Can adhere to deadlines
• Excellent written communications skills
• Volunteers interested in writing in foreign languages must be able to translate to English
• Prior blogging experience preferred but not necessary

Commitment
This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity for a blogger that can contribute at least 2 to 3 posts per month for our blog, Making Social Change A Reality. The number of hours you’ll volunteer will vary depending on your writing ability. We do not expect volunteers to donate more than 5 hours a month writing their posts.
