Chanelle Carver - Founder and Executive Director
Chanelle Carver is a social entrepreneur, freelance copywriter and
nonprofit consultant that has over 5 years professional and volunteer
experience with nonprofits from around the country, specializing in
program and organizational development, leadership, recruiting and
volunteer management. She is extremely passionate about education,
international relations, economic development, and human rights issues.
Her mission in life: to make society a better place for all.
In addition to leading the Literacy 'n' Poverty Project, Chanelle consults with startup and small
nonprofits to build sustainable social enterprises. Combining her love
for business and nonprofits, she has developed a career in social
change that enables her to fulfill a life long dream of changing the
world. This is success, the way she defines it!
In addition, Chanelle writes articles for a site called CollectiveLens.com,
is a member of the Poughkeepsie Platinum branch of the AAUW, and also serves on
the Amazing Kids! advisory board.

When not working, she can be found blogging, researching, cooking or developing her skills in curriculum development and program management.

Mory is a high school student living in New York who is highly involved in humanitarian projects and enthusiastic about making society a better place for all - a society void of hunger and pvoerty. She speaks English, French, 2 African languages and is developing her webmaster skills. She has a strong desire to help others and became involved with Literacy 'n' Poverty Project to help make our mission and vision a reality.
Shannon Kelly - Researcher
Shannon has been working at the University of Pennsylvania since the summer of 2007. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2006 with a B.A. in Sociology, certificate in Public Policy and Administration, and a letter in Social Welfare. Throughout college, she worked for the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at UMass which sparked her interest in a career in higher education. After graduation she served in YouthServe AmeriCorps for one year in Amherst, MA working for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County as a Program Assistant and Community Service Coordinator. Shannong plans to pursue a master's in higher education in the coming years and incorporate her passion for civic engagement on a college campus.

Matthew is a native New Yorker, born and raised in the Bronx. He graduated with a B.A. from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota with a degree in Ethnic Studies. After working for several non-profits, he became an elementary school teacher while going to school for his Master's degree. He now lives in Boston and works for a math curriculum company.
